The biggest advantage of this type of set-up with this device is the underground stream can rise in water heights when its stopped, then it starts the pump up it will run the sprays longer, to stop again for the water rise then repeat to start the pump. This is a very good attachment to have working in a drought on a system that gets short of water, especially mine on my spear points. Last drought I had to restrict the flow rate back with gate-valve on the delivery from 44 sprays down to 11 sprays, this is the worst dryness I have ever seen on my spear points in any drought
This attachment will have Provisional Patent on it soon the request is in process now. It will be on my website for sale as a Product to purchase or purchase an Engineering Drawing of set-up so you can build your own. This device works very simple as a hydraulic principle of equal pressure as a chamber in all pipes and the spinning pump, to allow gravity to become the controlling factor, so the air will rise to the top in water to be released with a simple air valve. It is the set-up of this attachment that was hard to find as I tried many way till I achieved what I wanted. I also have installed a recycle cooling pipe too care for the pump packing or the mechanical seal, plus a delayed safety pressure switch with a timer is designed to be installed some day if it cannot reprime. When I achieved this attachment working in bad drought conditions of cut back and then cut back again of the water all the time, to try and run some sprays, it was exciting to have the help of my Pump Mate to start the water back up by itself. After testing for half a day, to get them to go at a setting that irrigated in a sensible way, I went home for dinner very late, too tell my wife Fe that I had the sprays working to restart their self, I can remember telling her "Some times Sweetheart I amaze myself" and I know she never heard me, or maybe she did as thinking as always I am just dreaming. The reason I christen this device a Pump Mate is that my 13-year-old son Patrick at weekends, it was his main job to restart the pump up all the time after pumping out. When sitting on the lawn chair with a cup coffee one morning the sprays stop, Patrick stated, "Can't take another day of this Dad". I said, "Sit and watch Son, I got an old mate working down river he will fix it up" You should have his eye ball when up came the sprays with my smart remark, "There I told you Son". All jokes aside this is one of the most valuable things I have, especially in dry times because it's very compatible with cutting the pump back as you get less water to irrigate more land as it just runs less time, then just cut the valve and the sprays back more to balance with the water you have left. All you do is set the time clock a little longer to allow for reprime time, then it's nice to give it a rest to build up your water storage up, with some type of routine, with out living with the pump. In a drought it better to pump some water to grow feed, then no water at all because you can't get the pump to keep going. Even the recycle pipe to care for the pump packing or the mechanical seal to keep the water cool with nil water pumping when it's still spinning, is a very valuable attachment that should be made compulsory on every pump to care for it in a better way. Just this morning the pump stop pumping last night some time, with a pin hole in the suction pipe, I didn't need to fly down in the dark morning to turn it off to save the pump packing, because I new my recycle pipe would work. Normally it would be boiling hot to cook the packing, but not now there was a little bit of warmth with packing in perfect order. Another thing this Pump Mate is ideal to place on a pump to just let the air out when stopped, with a pump that hard to get too. Also it will only releases the air out with no water too keep the surroundings dry, especially in an area of electricity components to create less danger. This device can also be installed on an irrigation pump in a WELL that's pumping out to be reprimed by itself to continue to finish the shift.
These 5-prototype build photos that I have install on my Website is what I built to just start the pump up as pressing the starter box button once. An Electrical Starter is $2500.00 today that is not built to start many times to remove all the air out of the Spear point system. This device allows me to press the button once to start the pump and walk away to start shifting my pipes. By the time I shift 6 pipes the water is coming, so I shift the rest with the water flowing out as I move them. Installation of the "Pump Mate" can be arranged through Denman Engineering.
